What is home inventory software?

Home inventory software, or a home inventory app, keeps a list of what you own, with photos, receipts, serial numbers, and values, so you can find things, plan a move, and file insurance claims faster. Scan a barcode and Nest Egg fills in the product details when that information is available.

Will every barcode fill in product details and prices?

Not always. Nest Egg looks up the product name, description, pictures, manufacturer, and online prices from online product listings, so what you get depends on what is listed online, and some barcodes may not be found. You can always add or edit the details yourself.

Most of my things don't have barcodes. Can I still use Nest Egg?

Yes. Add items yourself with photos, audio, video, receipts, and other attachments, plus any details you want to keep. If you want to go further, print your own QR code or barcode labels, stick them on your things, and scan them to find items later.

Is Nest Egg free?

Yes, you can start for free. Nest Egg Lite is free for up to 25 items on one iPhone or iPad. Nest Egg is a one-time purchase of $6.99 with unlimited items. Nest Egg Cloud has free plans for up to 100 items, and subscriptions for more items, more accounts, and the apps on every platform.

What do the free Nest Egg Cloud plans include?

There are two, and both include up to 100 items, stored in the cloud and synced. The free Web plan works in any web browser, on any computer, phone, or tablet, but not in the apps. The free plan in the iPhone or Android app works in that app, on devices of that platform only. To use the apps on every platform plus the web, upgrade to a paid Web plan. You can try any paid Web plan free for two weeks.

Can I try Nest Egg on the web and on my phone or tablet for free?

Yes. Every paid Web plan comes with a two-week free trial that includes the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps, so you can try your inventory on the web and on your phones and tablets. A credit card is needed to start a free trial. If you only need the web, the free Web plan includes up to 100 items, with no credit card needed.

What is the difference between Nest Egg and Nest Egg Cloud?

The Nest Egg iOS app keeps your inventory on your iPhone or iPad. Nest Egg Cloud stores it online and syncs it between your devices. Paid Web plans work on iPhone, iPad, Android, and any web browser, so everyone in your household can see the same list.

Can I use Nest Egg on my computer?

Yes. Nest Egg Cloud is home inventory software that runs in any web browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook. The free Web plan includes up to 100 items, and paid Web plans add the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps.

Can I sync my home inventory between iPhone and Android?

Yes, with Nest Egg Cloud. The free Web plan works in the browser on any phone, tablet, or computer, and a paid Web plan adds the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps. Sign up on the web first, then sign in to the apps. Accounts created in the iPhone or Android app stay on that platform.

Can I move my inventory to Nest Egg Cloud later?

Yes. Export your items from the Nest Egg iOS app as a CSV file and import them into Nest Egg Cloud.

Can my family use the same inventory?

Yes, with a paid Nest Egg Cloud plan. Paid plans include more than one account, and the pricing page shows how many each plan includes.

Is my data private?

Yes. In the Nest Egg iOS app, your inventory stays on your device, and you can back it up with your Apple device backup or upload backup files to iCloud or Dropbox. With Nest Egg Cloud, your data travels over an encrypted, protected connection. We don't share your data with third parties, as our privacy policy explains.

I use Nest Egg at work. Can I use it at home too?

Yes. Use the Nest Egg iOS app for your personal belongings, or open a personal Nest Egg Cloud account, separate from your work account, if you want syncing on every device.
