Where jewelry goes missing

Every piece is small and valuable, and many are one of a kind. When one piece goes missing, it’s a real loss, not a rounding error.

Pieces look alike

Five gold bands differ by a size or a stone. Without a unique tag on each, someone shows or ships the wrong one.

Memos go quiet

A ring goes out on approval or a strand goes to another dealer, and nobody follows up when it’s due back.

Counts drift

Pieces move from the case to the safe, the bench, or a trunk show, and the closing count doesn’t match the morning count.

From the case to the customer

Nest Egg follows each piece from the day it arrives to the day it sells, and keeps a record at every step.

1. Receive and tag

Record the purchase with its cost and supplier, take photos, attach the certificate, and print its QR label.

2. Case and safe

Every piece has a home in a case, a tray, or the safe. Transfers keep the record right when pieces move.

3. Out on memo

Lend a piece to a client or a dealer with a due date. Nest Egg alerts you before it’s due back.

4. Sold or returned

Scan the tag to pull up the piece, then record the sale or check it back in. Its full history stays on the record.

Jewelry Inventory Tracking

Photos and Files

Add up to 10 photos and 5 files to each piece, including certificates, appraisals, videos, and voice memos.

Custom Fields

Record metal, karat, weight, stone, carat, cut, clarity, ring size, or a grading report number.

QR Labels

Print QR labels from the app. Each one carries the piece’s unique Nest Egg ID, so a scan opens that exact piece.

Locations

Organize stores, cases, trays, safes, and show kits in up to six levels. Scan a tray’s label to see what’s in it.

Memo Out

Lend pieces to clients or dealers with a quantity, notes, and a due date, and get alerts before they’re due.

Consignment

Mark pieces you hold on memo or consignment as borrowed, with the owner and a return date.

Serial Numbers

Keep serial, lot, and batch numbers on purchases and sales to trace each piece.

Cost and Price

Store cost, replacement cost, and price on each piece, in any of 150+ currencies.

Stock Alerts

Get notified when findings, chain, or packaging run low, so you can reorder in time.

Transfers

Move pieces between stores, cases, the safe, show kits, and sales reps’ cases, with a reason for every move.

Returns

Record customer returns and returns to suppliers, so stock and history stay right after an exchange.

Orders

Record purchases from suppliers and sales to customers, with order numbers and prices.

Contacts

Keep customers, suppliers, consignors, and memo clients in one list, linked to their transactions.

Shrinkage

Log lost, damaged, or miscounted pieces with a reason, so losses don’t hide in the count.

Reports

Run PDF reports on sales, purchases, stock levels, and memos, by location, category, customer, or seller.

Permissions

Control who can view, add, or edit inventory, with a full audit trail of every change.

Jewelry inventory FAQs

It is software that tracks every piece a jewelry business owns or holds: finished jewelry, loose stones, metal, and findings. It records where each piece is, what it cost, its photos and certificates, and whether it is in a case, in the safe, out on memo, or sold. Staff scan barcode labels as pieces move, so counts stay current without updating a spreadsheet by hand.
Yes. Lend any piece to a client or another dealer and record the quantity, the contact, notes, and a due date. Nest Egg Cloud alerts you 3 days before a piece is due back, and you can change that lead time in settings. A Lent Items report, by lend date or due date, lists every piece that is out, who has it, and when it is due back.
Yes. Mark pieces you receive from a supplier, an artist, or a customer as borrowed, with the owner and a return date. They stay separate from the stock you own, and Nest Egg Cloud alerts you before each return date. A Borrowed Items report lists them with the owner and due date.
Nest Egg Cloud creates PDF reports on sales by location, category, or customer; purchases by location, category, or seller; stock levels, low-stock, and out-of-stock pieces by location or category; lent and borrowed pieces by date or due date; and every transaction for a single piece, so you can see its full history.
Yes. Each piece can have up to 10 photos and 5 attachments, such as PDF grading reports, appraisals, videos, and voice memos. Add custom fields for metal, karat, weight, stone, carat, cut, clarity, ring size, or a report number, so the details are on the record wherever you look it up.
Yes. Give each unique piece its own record with its own photos and serial number, and track supplies such as findings, chain, and packaging by quantity. Set an ideal quantity for supplies, and Nest Egg Cloud alerts you when stock runs low.
No. Nest Egg Cloud gives every piece a unique Nest Egg ID that you can print as a QR label from the app. Scan the label with any phone to jump straight to that piece, with its photos, certificate, price, and memo status. Cases, trays, and safes get their own labels too. If a piece already has a barcode or your own SKU, you can keep using it.
Yes. Export your pieces to a CSV file, change prices or other details in a spreadsheet, and import the file again. The Nest Egg ID column tells Nest Egg Cloud which piece each row updates, so you can reprice a whole category after a metal price change in minutes instead of editing pieces one by one.
Yes. Set up each sales case or show kit as a location with its own QR label, and transfer pieces into it before it leaves. Scan the case label to see everything inside, and count it by scan when it comes back. If you want a reminder, lend the pieces to the rep with a due date instead, and Nest Egg Cloud alerts you before they are due back.
Yes. Record a customer return or a return to the supplier, and stock updates to match. Each return stays in the piece’s history and in the Transactions reports.
No. Nest Egg Cloud is inventory software, not a point-of-sale system. Keep your POS or online store for checkout, and use Nest Egg Cloud to track where every piece is, what is on memo, and what needs reordering. You can record sales in Nest Egg Cloud, and move data between systems with CSV import and export.
No. Any iPhone or Android phone scans barcodes and QR codes with its camera. Nest Egg Cloud also works with handheld Bluetooth scanners at the counter. Labels print on label printers or on label sheets with a laser printer.
Yes. Save your sheet from Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers as a CSV file and import it. Your column names don’t need to match ours: columns with matching names map to Nest Egg Cloud fields automatically, and you can map the rest yourself, such as “Stone” to a custom field or “Retail” to Price. Columns you leave unmapped are skipped, so you can bring in only what you need. A name is the only field every piece requires. The same works for CSV files exported from a point-of-sale system or online store, and you can include photos and certificates by zipping them with the CSV.
A paid Web plan. Paid Web plans work in the browser and in the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps, so the store, the studio, and every team member use the same plan. The free plan works in a web browser only.
Every Web plan starts with a free 2-week trial that includes the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps. A card is needed to start the trial, but you are only charged if you continue after it ends. There is also a free plan for use in a web browser, with no card needed. See the pricing page for current plans.
